Minutes, 00-02-06 Recorded by Tse Wei Lim Sent to hrsfa-announce, 8 Oct 11:37 ____________________________________________________________________ Minutes of the Nominations Meeting Held 6 Feb 00 Agenda - Masq HRSFA-Social Fusion SIG reports Nominations Masq - HRSFA's annual Masqerade will be held 26th February in Loker Commons. We'll kick off at 9 until we're kicked out. Volunteers, primarily to get food with mperrin and kgold on the day, are very welcome. Failing that, they will be pressganged. Also, we seek a CD player (think discman, not boombox) which we can use at the Masq. Duhan also offered to burn more Masq CDs, with the proviso that he will _not_ include the British remix of the Hamster Dance. No matter how cute it is. So there. It being the Masq, several things are traditional. Costumes are one. A skit is another. Someone therefore should write one. Not mperrin. Preferably before the Masq. We will help you get performers. Write to mperrin@fas or kgold@fas if interested. If you want CDs, write to fringe@shore.net. HRSFA-Social - HRSFA now has a 3rd list - hrsfa-social@hcs.harvard.edu. To get on this list, write to majordomo@hcs.harvard.edu with no subject line, saying only "subscribe hrsfa-social" in the body of the message. To get off the list, desperately e-mail the list saying "please remove me from this list". Often. Men in black will then show up at your door, and remove you from the list with high-calibre instruments. This list works just like -announce and -discuss. Post to it messages which will no longer be relevant in a few hours, eg "I'm going to watch 2001. Now!" And people will then swarm to your room to watch it with you. We hope. The HRSFA T-shirt emerged briefly on the agenda, crying desperately for help. Some brave HRSFAn is required to go to its aid, preferably by designing it. Write to mperrin@fas to help. You will be rewarded. Fusion - Was not discussed, stage not being present. However, thus spake Zarasthustage: There is plenty of material for an issue. I wanted to publish before I left office, but upon realizing that I was about 200 bucks short, I figured that there was no way I could do it in the remaining weeks and raise extra money. So the new editor will get a money shortage, but also a nearly equipt magazine to go with. Anyway, wanted to let you all know what was up. To tell the truth I really would not have time right now to pile the issue together anyway...but come March 16th, I'll be a happy clam. So. SIG reports - Cardboard Cutouts - was established, with 8 members, providing you count the ID4 one as 2. Which it really is. MST3K - Is severely disappointed in all of you for not showing up. Feel guilty. Now! OK, stop that whimpering and write to fringe@shore.net to relieve your pricking consciences. Bizarreness SIG - Read from a truly bizarre book - Pyramids, by Terry Pratchett. Also, we expect, as I'm sure you know, a telepathy table to happen soon. B5 - The Babathon happened, and many have not recovered. The series, though, is now at the end of season 2, and the beginning of season 3 provides an excellent jumping on point. Jump. Writers - Is meeting shortly in the science centre. This is another SIG which is at an excellent jumping on point, especially now that Bryn is gone... Buffy - Has a new episode! In which Alexander turns evil and becomes a vampire! Or maybe not. Tuesday, 8pm, G-Spot. Milk & Cookies - Will have another meeting. Eventually. Write to lotze@fas to eventualise. Cool Movies PSIG - Has been showing cool movies. Thursdays at 9pm, G-Spot. Including this one! They don't know what they're showing, but it will be cool. Write lotze@fas to make sure it is. Also, the SF 24 Hour marathon at Coolidge Corner (which is actually 25 hours this year, cos its 25 years old) is happening soon. Tickets are still available. More details coming from fringe@shore.net. Write him to find out how to get yourself locked into a room with a bunch of SF movies for 25 hours straight! Gaming - Game-A-Thon happened. There was much, much gaming. It was good. Go buy chez geek, one of the best card games people have ever played - available at Pandy's. Also, write twlim@fas to start a campaign. Yes, that kind of campaign. Yes, that kind of start. Yes, that kind of write... Nominations - In a fit of absolute and utter insanity the officers decided to allow non-constitutional nominations to take place at the meeting. This made the infernal very sad. Which is why the minutes are so late - it took me more than an hour to get them done. Constitutional Elections will take place at 7pm on 20th Feb, Sever 110. Non-Constitutional Elections will take place 7pm Sunday March 5th, Sever 110. Nominations for constitutional positions can be e-mailed to twlim@fas until Sunday, non-con nominations from the 20th until the 27th. Only current undergraduate members of HRSFA in good standing may be nominated for constitutional positions.
