People were nominated for officer elections, which will take place at the meeting on 2/18. Positions are open to any undergraduate hrsfa member, and nominations will be accepted by email to hrsfa-announce until 7pm on 2/11. For those who will not be attending the election meeting, proxy votes will be accepted by email. Since at present a specific proxy method has not been determined, the method is not in this email. The message with the proxy voting protocol will be sent within a day. Vericon. Vericon was a big success. Over 300 registrants, almost all of whom attended; there were games and guests and people had much fun. Tse-wei will be con chair for Vericon 2; if you're interested in helping out (please!) email him at twlim@fas. Also, Vericon made about $4700, but much of this money will go to the next vericon and the upcoming issue of Fusion. in any case, hrsfa is still poor, although less so. 3. Masq The annual HRSFA Masquerade Ball will be coming up soon; we're in the process of setting a date. The 17th of february seems likely. Ticknor lounge was mentioned as a potential location, although the problem of finding an appropriate sound system was mentioned. Co-chair Kevin Gold (kgold) will be in charge, with apprentice Erin Larkspur (larkspur). 4. SF26, the Science Fiction Movie Marathon, conflicts with the elections meeting. 5. SIG Reports: a. Writer's SIG will meet on monday (except it was actually cancelled due to inclement weather -ed) to discuss pieces and the upcoming issue of fusion. b. Cool Movies pSIG will be showing The Silence of the Lambs this thursday in honor of Hannibal coming out. Afterwards, they will vote on next week's movie between The Court Jester and Hardware Wars/2001. So attend. c. Gaming SIG - there was lots of gaming at vericon. Altan Sert has started a new campaign, the first meeting of which involved beating up goblins and rats, but mostly rats. d. Milk and Cookies happened. And it will happen again. SIG leadership of Milk and Cookies will be passed on. To me (dclark@fas). Yay. e. BBC SIG will be limited to two hours this week, but there's still good stuff. f.
