Minutes: Nov. 18, 2001 Recorded by Cassia Martin Sent to hrsfa-announce, 20 Nov 2001 --------------------------------------------------- A noteable cane was borrowed for the purpose of calling the meeting to order. Harry Potter: A collective "yay!" was sounded. HRSFA went -- it was good. However about 6 people of those who went (NOT a majority vote) submit that they the LotR trailer was enjoyable as the entire Harry Potter movie. A vicious rumor is in circulation that Dennis behaves rather lake Alan Rickmond. For some reason, the only presiding co-chair didn't allow this to be called to a vote.... I guess it'll have to be postponed until non-cons. Fall Party: had two representatives! Will be the evening of Nov. 30 in Quincy 603, beginning at roughly 8 pm, following the destruction of the computer at 7:30 in front of the Sci. Center. VeriCon: Scott McCloud is coming!! Alums and departments are being asked for money, and alums, at least, are willing to help. (This is *frightfully* exciting. Email twlim@fas to ask if you don't know why.) Publicity has started, and we have flyers. Volunteer coordinators are still needed, maybe David K. maybe Dev P. are interested.... Kartik might be interested in doing the program book. Fusion: Cendri has submitted some highly cool illustrations, and is now working on the cover. It will definitely be sent to the printers by Christmas Hopefully, we will have VeriCon ads to distribute with it. If anyone is willing to make an ad for Milliway's Restaurant (at the end of the Universe) email bmmiller. We got permission from Douglas Adams to do it a year ago, so it definitely ought to happen. Faculty Advisors: we want 'em. At least we want faculty advisors who we know, and who might actually show up to some HRSFA event. Current possibilities that people are looking into is Bert Vaux and Marshall Poe. Everyone cross their fingers for good luck. Miscellaneous: Sandman Larp: Dec 1st, 4-9 pm. I'm not sure yet if spectators are allowed, but I'm sure more info will be forthcoming. Nov. 25th Weakest Link w/ Star Trek crew will probably be horrid. SIGs: Buffy/Angel. As Charles points out, the times have not changed. Angel (This week "Lullaby.") is Monday at 9pm in the Lowell Grille, Buffy ("Smashed") is 8 on Tuesdays same place. They're still watching Smallville.... (Alias watching seems to have died out, though.) (I feel ought to add, in spite of it not having been mentioned at the meeting that the Buffy musical really did end up being really goddamn cool. No disappointment here. (Well, except for the whole "Xander?" thing, but whatever. It's a musical.)) Tick-watching group? If interested, contact dclark Gaming: Tom Lotze is still undefeated in Cities and Knights of Catan. The whole weekend that Tom was here turned into an impromptu unannounced Game-A-Thon, with much Catan and Much Mafia. There is talk of Tuesday night insane gaming [check -announce, it's definitely happening], and a Thanksgiving gaming list. Tony wants to organize a pillow fight at some point, and Cassia thinks its a good idea. And, of course, after meeting gaming in the Lowell Grille. Star Trek might be a SIG (but isn't! 8 people may have showed up, but 8 HRSFAns did not) has all the tapes except for those that Bill Zaientz borrowed and hasn't returned yet, and will be taping this week for those who will not be able to see it at home. They (where they == dinkin) also want to try watching Junkyard Wars, 'cause it's cool. MST3K (bad movie) Sig got through the end of Dungeons and Dragons. Editing and compiling the riffs still needs to happen as well as skit creation. Noteables SIG is selling tickets for its Dec. 7th concert. Writer's Sig is meeting at Monday 7:30 in the Lowell Dining Room. Cool Movie *ig /tried/ to meet, but they can't seem to find a place that isn't taken. At any rate, they promise to watch Velvet Goldmine or Antitrust somewhere next next Thursday. Dev stole sidewalk chalk through an intermediary for nefarious undisclosed purposes. Milk and Cookies. Dec. 7th, Leverett JCR. Special Holiday with possible special guests. () Reader's SIG. Wed. 6 pm Lowell Game Room. Marshall Poe will talk with us about "we." Control-the-Weather SIG, we thank you. The weekend weather was wonderful. The Meeting was adjourned to gaming and Munchies SIG. Munch, munch, munch. -Cassia Martin infernal secretary [This is the HRSFA announcement list.
