Minutes, 4.21.02 From: Kaitlin Branson Heller Date: Mon Apr 22 2002 - 09:37:48 EDT --------------------------------------------------- (Note: Infernal's apologies for not sending these last night. She was trapped in a vortex of emerging into herself after having been Cassia all night.) This meeting ought never to have happened; but against the will of the gods, it did. Some soon-to-be-dead HRSFen made threats on the officers' lives because of the co-chairs' absence. The Infernal politely (and wielding a big ol' stick) reminded them that she was missing tech week to be there. Except, of course, she wasn't there, because Cassia was there. *cough* "Let's go!" - Ender BUSINESS. (ONE.) VERICON has some cool guests now. The con chair will present more on this at the next meeting. Rumor has it that we managed to snack Jud Winnick (rumor probably spelled it wrong, too), and that we might therefore get coverage in the Globe. (TWO.) The MYLD HUNT will be May 12. (THREE.) The SPRING PARTY will be this Friday, April 26. The Lowell administration is gimpy and hasn't reponded to Charles, so we will probably need to have the party in a room (Bryn? Cassia?). Also, see item five. (FOUR.) The consensus on PRE-FROSH WEEKEND seems to be that it was pretty cool. Bryn reminds the HRSFA populace of her SF Ex Libris plan. For those who don't know, Ex Libris is a very cool game played by some at Game-a-thon that much resembles Balderdash, only with the opening and closing lines of books rather than dictionary definitions. Bryn proposes that we make our own game with SF/fantasy books. She will send out an email about this soon. Tony will talk about this more later, but he mentioned briefly that he plans to write a letter to the administration about how poorly we feel we were treated during pre-frosh weekend. There were rumblings of agreement from the others present. (FIVE.) MST takes on the EYE OF ARGON. Plans are in the works to perform the atrocious story with its riffs at the Spring Party. Interested parties should contact David Speyer. (SIX.) Treasurer wants to take a vote on giving money to HRSFen to join the ANIME SOCIETY. The plan is to give $5 to any HRSFAn who wants to join in future; this will not apply retroactively, if passed. Hopefully this will encourage mutual enjoyment of anime and SF. ... Plus maybe we can raid their movie stash. SIG REPORTS BUFFY / ANGEL SIG. Buffy is not new this week. However, Smallville and Angel are, and the JCR is reserved. The season finales of Smallville and Buffy are going to run simultaneously. ************ Suddenly, a Dennis walks in. Dennis: Fuck me, Dennis Clark! Kaitlin: Awww. Co-chair runs the meeting from here on out. ************ MILK & COOKIES SIG. Met. Will meet again. Pre-frosh meeting was very cool, particularly the reading of the Eye of Argon, for which was awarded some Fresh and Minty things, some things which are Fun At Parties, and some Adoreable things. wSIG did meet, but Kartik wasn't there. It was cool nevertheless. rSIG is still on hiatus. GAME-A-THON was very cool, and many games were played. (See item five above.) ANIME. Eva was watched. Hell SIG was very nearly formed out of an accident of nomenclature. The meeting closed after about 13 minutes.
