Minutes, 4.28.02 From: Kaitlin Branson Heller Date: Sun Apr 28 2002 - 21:56:47 EDT --------------------------------------------------- It was definitely not Kaitlin's birthday. Lucy was deemed missing. Ender had a scary hood and sword. Bryn cried over the temporal distance between now and The Two Towers. "Fuuuuuuuzzzeeeeeeeeee." - Rebecca The meeting began 2 minutes early by HRSFA time. ********** BUSINESS ********** ++MYLD HUNT. This will be May 12. The fox (Warren) and the huntmistress (Mindy) have apparently agreed to talk. Oh good. Warren hinted that a guillotine might be involved. ++X-FILES. The 19th of May is the series finale of X-Files. People will watch, says Charles. ++SPIDERMAN / EPISODE II / COPENHAGEN / LES PHYS. Charles will go to the theatre early on Friday, the day it opens, to get tickets for Spiderman. Interested parties must email him or risk the Wrath of the Cream Puff. Episode II will be the 16th; Charles will probably email about this later. Copenhagen (a play, not a movie) requires a group of 20 to get the discount. However, this is worthwhile, as the price drops from $45 to $25 or so with the discount. Email Charles and Bill if interested. And for a plot summary: "It's a Jew, a German, and the atomic bomb." - Charles As for Les Phys, apparently there was some debate over whether there would be enough interested parties to get the discount. "We could bring the cockroach." - Lis Tony began talking about anime, and the lights went out. Dennis entered with Kartik. Dennis: Fuck me, Dennis Clark. HRSFen: Awww. Apparently they lost track of time while eating dinner. Back to ... ++THE ANIME ISSUE. There was much heated debate. The proposal, for those who haven't been reading the emails the Infernal sends out (*glare*), was to give $5 to HRSFA members who join the Anime Society. Discussion raged and split into interesting tangents, particularly when: Starr: Well, if we want to take over the SCA ... (Lucy enters at last.) Bryn: Hi Lucy! (HRSFen applaud, cheer, and laugh wildly.) The proposal failed, at a vote of 4 yea and 10 nay (9 at the meeting, 1 proxy). ++VERICON. Rebecca wanted to get a feel for general membership sentiment on a couple issues. Firstly, would more college students come if we lowered their entry fees? She thinks not, as the obstacle that generally prevents them from attending is not money but transportation. There was general agreement with her belief. It was suggested that day rates should be looked into. Also, she put forth the question of what VeriCon's monetary goals are. It seems that the public sentiment is that VeriCon should definitely attempt to break even, and if we make profit, so much the better. "Later generations of HRSFen can curse us if they want for saddling them with lots of money." - Bryn Dev suggested lowered rates for volunteers. There was a reasonably strong murmur of support for this motion. ++FUSION. There was no meeting yesterday, and Kartik was sad. Fusion will start advertising itself. Heather will be content editor. No Fusion this year. However, should HRSFen give **SUBMISSIONS** to Kartik (hint, hint, more hint, the continuance of a hint), he could get a Fusion out for Freshman Week, which would be damn cool. ****** SIGS ****** ~~BBC SIG. Kyle says that following Smallville this week, he will show tapes of a British show called "The Sandbaggers", about the British government. Apparently the writer of the show disappeared mysteriously during its run. (Oooooo.) Lowell JCR. "Leaving aside the complexity of Kartik's relationship with television ..." - Dennis ~~ANGEL/BUFFY SIG. Both are new episodes at last. Angel's episode is called "The Price"; Buffy is "Entropy". No idea what's up with Smallville (at the time these minutes were taken). ~~GAMING SIG. There were many, many games at the Spring Party, and they were cool. Sundell notes that the Lords of Chaos is still doomed. ++SPONTANEOUS BUSINESS: * Sundell also notes that the HRSFA email archives are now up. Kyle apparently deleted some of the old archival stuff once upon a time to save space. If anyone thinks they have some of this missing data, please contact Sundell. * Kartik mentioned that he was sad for the lack of Apples at the party. We voted to have HRSFA buy Apples. Yay. As for buying other games: officers will make a list of games that HRSFA should look into getting. * TAROT. Warren wants to know if HRSFA would be willing to give money to print this. Decision was postponed pending the actual completion of this tarot. Also, Warren would like to know if it ought to be based on the superficial qualities of the cards or the deeper meanings. Lucy votes for deeper meanings. There was some debate over whether to use HRSFen on the cards or rather HRSFA-centric things, like the Wyld Hunt. It was decided that parties interested in this tarot and the debate over it should email Warren and Lucy. Warren seethed. ~~COOL MOVIE *IG. Met and watched A Better Tomorrow. Interestingly, all of the viewers were girls, including one who meant to watch Friends but ended up with the *ig instead. ~~MILK AND COOKIES SIG. Will meet again. ~~STAR TREK SIG. Will meet again, despite most of its members being amidst various tech weeks. Episodes have and will continue to be taped. The meeting finally ended. "Thank God." - Bryn Recorded April 28, the Year of Our Rabbit 47,392. Kaitlin Heller Infernal Secretary [This is the HRSFA announcement list.
