Minutes, 11.10.02 From: Kaitlin Branson Heller Date: Sun Nov 10 2002 - 23:24:35 EST --------------------------------------------------- "There are scary postmodern boys, but they go away if you poke them long enough." - Lis Nate had a haircut. One of the co-chairs had a hair problem. Ender: And this shall be the third sign - that the light shall devour the darkness. Kartik: And Rebecca walks in. ... How was the darkness? Rebecca: Good. ~<^> business <^>~ -boom tomorrow -------------- There's always a boom tomorrow. --harry potter 2 ---------------- We're going to Boston Common this Friday. If you would like to go, you should have emailed Charles. If you don't receive a confirmation email tomorrow, that means he doesn't know you want to come, and you have about twelve hours to contact him and ask him to get you a ticket. ---Lord of the Rings: the DVD -------------------- This Wednesday, we'll watch the new release of LotR at Cool Movie *ig in Mather JCR, time TBA. It has 30 minutes more material. Dev needs someone to guarantee the presence of the movie - who will buy it that very morning? Can Vincent or Claudia take care of this? ---Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers -------------------- December 18 (last day of classes for the term). We're going. ----Nemesis ----------- Because he loves it so much, Dev is going to arrange some sort of outing to this movie, which opens about 5 days before LotR. In favor of the movie are its even number and its "interesting elements". Kowarsky: I will condone crap. Ender: Is that your official position as leader of Star Trek SIG? -----Die Another Day -------------------- Vincent is leading an outing to this, and will send appropriate emails. ------Donnie Darco ------------------ Was this evening (will have been this evening?) in Pfoho at 9:30 in the Holmes JCR. We discussed Cassia's strange lack of fear of Donnie Darco in relation to the fact that she apparently was so scared at Apollo 13 that she walked out. "You KNOW how Apollo 13 ENDS!!!" - Dennis -------Vericon -------------- We need artwork designers, volunteers, and people willing to house. Signup lists for this, as well as registration forms, will be at the next meeting. --------DVD Player ------------------ We have ordered a $125, Region 0 player, and it should arrive in about a week and a half. It's portable, weighing only 4 pounds. Dennis: Does it look like a PlayStation 1? Kartik: No, it looks really, really, evil. Dennis: That's even better! ---------Books for Freshmen --------------------------- This year, we're giving books to the freshmen who've paid their membership dues. A few received their books at the Fall Party. If you were not one of these few, and you are a paid-up freshman, bother Tony - he has your (personalized!) book. ----------Membership Cards -------------------------- Allegedly this will happen. Dennis will bother the HCS people about it until it does. *............* . . . sigs . ............ * * BIZARRENESS SIG ................. Last Friday night, there was a trip to Rocky Horror. This included, leather corsets, lace skirts, fishnet, and seeing more of Kartik than we ever wanted to see (and particularly more of him in orange spandex than we ever wanted to see). Pictures will be posted at hrsfa.org. Dennis attempted to describe the costumes worn and how they made the HRSFen in them look, but he feared he couldn't do so properly without sounding - Dennis: Insulting, lewd, male chauvenistic ... Kaitlin [to Charles]: Quick! Take them as flaws! pSIG ...... Metropolis went unwatched because Dev was "waylaid" by "vagabonds" and "bloody revolutions". Watched Evil Dead 3 instead. Ender offered to train mercenaries for us. wSIG ...... Met Saturday morning. There was food. Kartik ate it - all alone. The message? Attend wSIG! Next Saturday at 1 pm. CIG ..... Angel: tonight at 9. New Buffy and Smallville on Tuesday at 8 and 9 respectively. Firefly will probably get watched later on a tape from Claudia, since Harry Potter is this Friday. Star Trek SIG ............... Didn't meet due to Magic drafting. Will fix. MST3K SIG ........... Met last week, and will meet this Wednesday at 6:30 in Mather JCR. We're actually into the riffing and re-watching. Also, this week we will assign (or start assigning) plot writing for the host segments. Volunteer to write one or send Jason your ideas. "The first lesson we have learned is that Jar Jar does not grow on you." - Jason (Mage not really a sig) ......................... Crusade game is 3-8 this Saturday in Dennis' room (right?). Ascension is Tuesday the 19th. Deadline for sheets and stories is this Sunday (a week from today). MiLK and CooKieS .................. Hopes to meet soon, and certainly before Thanksgiving. B5 .... Tomorrow at 8 pm, the SIG members can stop hating Dennis for making them wait between the season finale and the next season. Ender: Do you know how long WE had to wait? Jason: Do you know how little I care? If desired, there might be some sort of review session of the 5 most important episodes from season 1. Magic SIGoid Thing .................... Someone should buy a BOX in the future, to prevent bankruptcy. But it was fun. Munchies. Boom. Meeting. Recorded November 10, 2002.
