Minutes, 11.24.02 From: Kaitlin Branson Heller Date: Sun Nov 24 2002 - 22:42:23 EST --------------------------------------------------- There was rage. Then Alex became a member, and there was happiness instead. Adam passed out registration sheets for Vericon. "CHARLES!!!" - lots o' HRSFen ----------------- b u s i n e s s ----------------- -MOVIES- -------- Lord of the Rings opens December 18. Dennis will organize the outing. By some form of popular consensus, said outing will be in the evening on the 18th. It remains to be seen whether we should go to a matinee, in the hope of not being poor, or to an evening show, in the hope of bringing alums. Star Trek: Nemesis (which is supposedly a good-numbered movie, be that odd or even, nobody remembers) opens December 13. This is also the day of the Noteables concert, and since the SIG leader is in the Noteables, he'll probably lead a gathering later that weekend. Dev and Kowarsky will confer about this. Harry Potter kicked bootie, except for the last 90 seconds, which should be stricken from the record of humanity. Bond was cool. Kaitlin: How was Halle Berry? Chris: Not naked, actually. A resolution was passed, namely, that Halle Berry is amazing looking. -PILLOW FIGHT- -------------- Kowarsky: What about a pillow fight? Cassia: Let's have one. Alex: Now? No, not now. In fact, it will be Friday, December 6, in the Quincy JCR. We own the QJCR from 7-9, because we rule, so the fight will happen sometime during that period. The GM will get back to everyone on this. -DVD PLAYER- ------------ We have it, but it's not gold. It's blue, and somewhat less evil, but still nifty. Someone should test some non-region 1 DVDs on it soon. -THANKSGIVING- -------------- Cassia will be here. Anyone interested in being on a separate hrsfa-thanksgiving-social email list should email her now. There might also be a winter-break-social email list, containing such lovely things as a party at Rachel's. Dennis: Spam reduction starts at home. Jason: No, it starts in Nigeria. -GOATS VS. SHEEP- ----------------- The decision: sheep. "The goats are at his left hand and the sheep are at his right, and you don't know where that hand has been." - Warren -VERICON- --------- Give your handy-dandy registration forms, in person or by email, to Adam and Kaitlin. Buy some tickets now, before pre-reg ends and you have to pay more. Currently, prices are $10 for students and $15 for non-students, with $1 off if you're a HRSFA member. If you have crash space available, please email Rebecca, Kaitlin, and Adam and tell them so. Volunteers (for anything!) are always lovely. As for housing in guest suites for our lovely guests, someone should check Quincy. If you're not sure if your house has been checked, ask Rebecca. --------- s i g s --------- ------ -fSIG- "Writers' SIG! Happened! Victory!!" - Kartik ... although the SIG is now called Fusion SIG, but whatever. The crucial idea is: it MET. Woo hoo! Attendees discussed stories by Heather and Dave Molnar. These, and possibly some new additions, will be further discussed at the next meeting, which will be this Saturday at 1, probably in the Quincy JCR. The Jason and Lis column will probably be called "Death and Taxes." Cassia: Why is Jason "Taxes"? Jason: [!!!^$%*#&^!@!] Anyone wanting advice from Death or Taxes, write to Kartik. Anyone wanting anonymity, talk to Kartik. Rachel: What's a SIG? HRSFen: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. ---------- -Babylon 5- Last week, we were psycho, and lots of people were there for it. Due to previously made promises, however, the two episodes shown at the end of last week will NOT be skipped. They will begin at 8 pm. Everyone should go watch them again anyway, because they're cool. ---------------- -Milk & Cookies- We had them. We will have them again, when other craziness gets settled.* *see handy dandy chart. ------- -MST3K- Met. Wasn't as good as it could have been, because the SIG's fearless and beloved leader was busy dying. The SIG will, however, pull no punches, take no prisoners, and love no Jar Jar, as well as forge ahead with the second half of the movie, until winter break. Probably the SIG will also meet in reading period. Three important things need to happen, besides just riffing the dang flick. One: sketches need writing. Two: the pod race. *shudder* Three: rehearsal. Most of this will probably take place in January. ----- -CIG- Buffy is new. Smallville is the sixth of five all new episodes. Angel was hijacked tonight by the Wizard of Oz. --------------- -Star Trek SIG- Enterprise has finally managed to cause even the SIG leader pain. Instead of watching that vileness, he will at some point show some themed Next Gen stuff. Stay tuned. ------------ -Gaming SIG- Evil was vanquished not once, but twice, in Buffy. It giggled during many games of Mafia, and it laughed uproariously at the Game. "20-13. Booyah." - Dennis ---------------------------------- -Almost-the-Officer-Board Not-SIG- Ascension had its first meeting, at which the NPCs collectively gathered so much cuteness in the room that the players and GM nearly exploded. As usual, everybody sucks and needs to tell the GM when they can meet, dammit. Also, White Wolf has a new game out called Demon: the Fallen. Supposedly it looks like it might be better than Mummy. Someone pointed out that Yeast: the Fermenting would be better than Mummy, at which point it was revealed that in fact the campaign of Peppermint: the Freshening has already taken place, and was actually quite satisfying. ---------------- -***** **** ***- A great hand reached out of the stars. Winter came. Something devoured from beneath. And a prophet spoke: Jason: There is no such thing as a HRSFAn Video Game SIG, but someday, there will be. Kartik: By my sword, that will be the day that no HRSFen graduate. Blood and Fire. The meeting escaped 8:00 in a hot-air balloon. Recorded November 24, 2002.
