Minutes, 12.8.02 From: Kaitlin Branson Heller Date: Sun Dec 08 2002 - 22:55:10 EST --------------------------------------------------- Starr actually paid money to see The One. A Game of Thrones is now A Collectible Card Game. Cassia has too much work. "All hail Sanyo!" - Warren There was boom today. BBBBBUUUUUSSSSSIIIIINNNNNEEEEESSSSSSSSSS - - - - - - - - -CLAY OF MY CLAY- Golem must have a master. -THE TWO TOWERS- Charles will send out an email soon. If you want a ticket, right him back. If you don't get a confirmation email, you don't have a ticket. -STAR TREK: NEMESIS- We may go eventually. Dev has already sent an email out about this, so you should write to him if you're interested. "We exist to do stuff as mobs." - Tony -MILK OF DEATH- May we politely suggest that you do not drink the Milk of Death. -PILLOW FIGHT!- Despite being somewhat sparsely attended, the Pillow Fight! was violent and entertaining. Cassia fought with her secret weapon - a giant stuffed bear with no eyes. This may have symbolic significance. -FUSION- Again, the Editor-in-Chief claims it will happen. wSIG is currently undergoing renovations, but it will meet next semester. Meanwhile, this Saturday is the Fusion meeting. If you have a question for Death and / or Taxes, email it to Kartik this week. The SF contingent at Smith has been contacted and may help out, but Kartik needs submissions! Send them to him by January 1. He would especially like to have a freshman write a short historical piece on some HRSFA happening, to be added to the Apocrypha. Cassia: Wait - how can somebody who wasn't there write a column? Dennis: Exactly. -WINTER BREAK- If anyone is staying, they should email Mindy, because she will be here and likes company. The list hrsfa-summer might be viable for this. "It's called thesis camp." - Mindy -VERICON- The schedule of events is now online. "So in case you were dead for a long time, what is the date of this con?" - Vincent The con is Friday, January 24 through Sunday, January 26. It now officially has a building to happen in, which is exciting. If you have artwork, you can put it in the show. If you have money, you should give it to Kaitlin or Tony or Adam, especially if you've already pre-registered. Pre-reg costs less, so do it now! If you have crash space, pleeeeeease let the chair and registration people know. We need crash space! If you have a car ... can we use it? Quite seriously, Vericon needs to borrow a car. Talk to Rebecca. -COOL AUTHORS- On January 18, Robert Jordan will be at the COOP. The Exfernal should see if we can take him out to dinner or something. Also, someone who will be here in 2005 needs to keep up with trying to get George R. R. Martin for Vericon '05. Lacking the ability to say no to anything, Kaitlin volunteered. SSSSSSSSIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGSSSSSSSS -- -- -- -- -NOTEABLES SIG- There is a concert this Friday at 8 pm. Tickets can be purchased from your favorite Noteable (and the rest of them too). -CIG- Firefly is awesome and everyone should watch it, especially because Buffy and Angel are currently in reruns. There was a suggestion from the floor to watch Alias Sunday nights before cartoons, but it floated away due to insufficient interest. HRSFA now owns Buffy seasons 4 and 5 and Angel 1 and 2 on DVD, donated by Kowarsky. They can be watched on the new DVD player. -B5- The four eps this week will make you cry. Next week there are three, which will probably be shown Sunday night instead of Monday. -MILK & COOKIES- Probably this Saturday in Winthrop JCR. -MST3K- It lives on, having gone through the whole movie and cried. Ranting will cover the pod race scene. Next week is the battle scene and the beginnings of skits. If anyone knows the Daffy Duck swordfight by heart, please let someone in the SIG know. Also, SIG members should type up their riffs and send them to Jason. -STAR TREK SIG- Kowarsky has been sorting "thons" of Next Gen, which should start next semester. {Note: apologies for not naming that thon with the funny name, but I couldn't spell it.} Warren: Enterprise? Kowarsky: What?! -THE QUASISIG OF DOOM AND SEX WITH TONY- The Crusade game will meet this Saturday from 3-8, as usual. The Ascension game will have to wait until January, but hopefully by then Henri will have gathered absolutely all of the world's most annoying music. Dressing up for the final sessions is highly encouraged. -COOL MOVIE SIG- Topsy Turvy, shown last week, was apparently so painfully paced that those watching turned it off 2/3 of the way through. This week's offering promises to be better: Flash Gordon! (Ahahhh! He'll save every one of us!) No one seems to be going to see Equilibrium, though in theory it could be randomly entertaining. Solaris, apparently, was sucky, containing far too much George Clooney ass. "Watch out for the ass-noodle scene. It's pretty much what it sounds like." - Dennis -SUPER COMBO SIG OF POWER- Next week, nefarious forces will combine to attempt the successive viewing of The Two Towers, Episode I (for riffing), and Spaceballs (because Episode I is just that painful). "Oh God - good - BAD!!" - Vincent -CARTOON SIG- Meets in five minutes (from the sending of this email). Currently in Dennis' room, where he is playing FF10 obsessively. Meeting ended. "We munch." - Dennis Recorded December 8, 2002.
