Minutes: 3/16/03 From: Chris Doucette Date: Mon Mar 17 2003 - 04:12:32 EST --------------------------------------------------- [Pre-minutes note from the InfSec: Lowell House Opera is over, so the level of fascism there has come back down to the level where we can resume eating there whenever we damn well please. Yesiree Bob.] The library is open till 8, says Charles. Bryn was there; not many others were, for the seniors were thesisizing. The armless sergeant started the meeting, as the sergeant-at-arms was absent. ************* ************* NORMAL BUSINESS ************* ************* Big agenda, mostly comprised of spring events to plan. ************* IDES OF MARCH ************* We killed Kyle (with Bryn's help). ************* HENRI + DEV'S MAGE GAME ************* They are hoping to start the first weekend of April if characters are ready. This depends on Henri's ability to club email-phobic players. ************* BLOCKING PARTY ************* The 91st annual HRSFA blocking party for the soon-to-be-Housed frosh will be this Wednesday night (3/20), and will be comprised of ST:TNG, Angel, games (video, card and board), Futurama, etc. That is to say, it's a normal Wednesday night for HRSFA. ************* SPRING BREAK ************* The hrsfa-summer list can be used for those looking for non-thesis fun. I-Con will be occuring in New York(?) with Harlan Ellison, and Harlan Ellison, and Harlan Ellison; contact Kowarsky for more details. ************* ROAD TRIP ************* There's a con at Smith over the weekend of April 4th-6th. Since lots of Smithies came to VeriCon we are planning on sending a contingent to theirs. Transportation is the main issue; Warren is looking for cars with alums at the wheel to avoid bus fare ($30/person, not that bad but cars would be preferable). "We'll give you beds, we'll be in those beds if you want." -- Smith girls ************* LESTER ************* has set up a HRSFA role-playing message board to extend HRSFA's social Overmind even further into the digital world, and to further assist us in the noble pursuit of procrastination. Email Lester (lyleung@fas) if you're interested in taking an active role in its maintenance/use. ************* THE HOUR ************* Sunday April 6th, from 1 AM to 3 AM, we will celebrating the Going of the Hour. (Or is it the Coming? I furget.) "It's *All* Hail Chronos, you dimwits..." -- Kaitlin ************* THE MASQ ************* Friday April 11th, in Loker Commons, starting around 9ish PM (at Starr's discretion). Kowarsky, with a CD burner, is volunteering to make new Masq mix CDs. Email him with suggestions which he can find on Kazaa. ************* MYLD HUNT/SPRING PARTY ************* Elisabeth is the Fox. Kowarsky is the Huntmaster. The Hunt will be the afternoon of Saturday April 19th, followed by the Spring Party that evening. ************* PREFROSH WEEKEND ************* Tony/Dev, Elisabeth and Kartik are hosting prefrosh, kudos to them. There will be a gaming room Saturday afternoon of Prefrosh weekend (April 26th), a rerunning of MST3ked Episode I in the evening, Milk and Cookies after that. Tabling at the Activities Fair is Sunday afternoon. More details on these as the weekend approaches. ************* THE SCA ************* The Society of Creative Anachronism is being sustained through the effort of Kaitlin and Charles. (Kaitlin is protecting a trebuchet.) ************* ************* SIGs ************* ************* Star Trek: Prior to Angel on Wednesday (starting off the "Blocking Party"), there'll be a Holodeck-a-thon. Kowarsky: "I've also got a Ro-a-thon, because she's hot." Cassia: (horrified expression) ************* Babylon 5: Stuff happened. Stuff will continue to happen. More Bester in the future. "Chris asked how long until Franklin and Number One get it on... if you have to *explicitly* see them getting it on... one episode." -- Tony ************* Magic: Will do a draft sometime, this week "not happy." Still good gaming 'n' bad manners at the tournaments at Your Move. Bryn: "Sucks to be you." Warren: "No! - You do not *know* why it sucks to be me." ************* Gaming: Board games are on the rise again, what with Talisman and Catan and others. Crusade game is over, Ascension is still ongoing; Shadowrun started last night. ************* Video Gaming: Chris now has copies of Gran Turismo 3, an awesome racer, and Dark Cloud 2, an RPG where you run around hitting monsters with a wrench and taking pictures of objects to combine into invention ideas. "I really thought you had something going with that Garbage Mail Clock." -- Tony (quoting Penny Arcade) ************* $IG: Farscape series finale... Stargate season finale... Sweet Zombie Jesus. Children of Dune after the meeting and Tuesday night. All in all a big week for Sci-Fi channel. After Spring Break the $IG season will be over, so Friday nights will see a fun-filled run-through of the best episodes of Stargate Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD. ************* CIG: New Angel Wednesday, no new Buffy/Smallville. Angel's getting desperate; every episode kills or maims a special guest character and introduces a new one, to be killed/maimed next week. ************* Milk and Cookies: This Friday evening after $IG in Leverett JCR. ************* Writers: Has the Owen Room in Winthrop for the rest of the year (except the next meeting). Fun improv and improv-free writing games. There is Elisabeth, and there is Heather. ************* Munchies: Yum yum yum. ************* ************* - Chris Doucette, Infernal Secretary doucett@fas _______________________________________________ hrsfa-announce mailing list hrsfa-announce@lists.hcs.harvard.edu http://lists.hcs.harvard.edu/mailman/listinfo/hrsfa-announce
