Minutes: 4/6/03 From: Chris Doucette Date: Sun Apr 06 2003 - 21:39:03 EDT --------------------------------------------------- All of the approximately 15 HRSFAn present at 7:10 PM are, or were at some point, HRSFA officers (if we consider Yves to be Assistant Con-Chair, and we do). [Pre-minutes note: the next and final meeting of the year is in two weeks on Sunday, April 20th.] *************** *************** "NORMAL" BUSINESS *************** *************** *************** SMITH *************** Several HRSFAn went to Smith for the weekend. There was lots of games 'n' girls (more games than girls). The tradition of the Hour was brought unto them (see below). "Cassia is the ultimate Catholic schoolgirl." -- Kartik *************** THE HOUR *************** All hailed Chronos, both at Harvard and at Smith. Elisabeth bore the clock admirably as clockbearer, and advances were made in candle-holding technology. The drunken freshmen were well-behaved. *************** THE MASQ *************** It's this Friday (4/11) starting at 9:00 PM in Loker. Setup will start at 8:00; if you have it in your heart to help Starr & Yves kick out non-HRSFAn and set up equipment, let her know. Starr would like Masq music that works, and volunteer(s) for a Masq sqit. Hmm... my qeyboard is broqen. *************** MYLD HUNT/SPRING PARTY *************** Will take place the afternoon of Saturday 4/19. Elisabeth is the Fox; Kowarsky is the Huntmaster. The Spring Party will directly follow the Hunt in the Quad, specific location to be determined. *************** PREFROSH WEEKEND *************** The prefrosh are coming... Elisabeth, Kartik and Tonyanddev are hosting; we will have a game-a-thon Saturday afternoon (4/26) from 3-7 in the Science Center, MST3k redux from 7:30-10:00 in Waka, and Milk & Cookies directly following that from 10:00-1:00, also in Waka. *************** VERICON 2004 *************** We have our first guest: Mike Carey (Lucifer, Hellblazer, Firestorm - sounds charming). Charles wants more ideas for people to invite, especially non-comic book folks if you want non-comic book folks there. *************** PROFIT *************** It's a cool TV show. Cassia & Claudia want to show it to HRSFA; a marathon of all 6 hour-long episodes will be shown before the end of the year, most likely in May at some point. Cassia warns that for the faint of heart it could be a bit disturbing; while watching she had to leave the room a few times. Cassia: "Of course, I also had to walk out of Apollo 13..." Kaitlin: "You know how it ends!!!" *************** RPGs *************** Henri's Mage/EABA game starts tonight. Kaitlin's Ascension game will finish sometime soon. Charles will try to find time in the schedule for another Shadowrun session very soon. *************** VERICON 2006 *************** We have George R. R. Martin. Cassia: "That's so far away." Kaitlin: "But it's so *cool*." *************** MOVIES *************** We went to Cowboy Bebop yesterday, the dub didn't suck at all. Warren will arrange for ticket purchases and expotitions to these upcoming releases: May 2: X-Men 2 May 15: Matrix Reloaded (watch the Animatrix. Oh-so cool.) "I love a woman that can kick my ass." -- Spike *************** *************** SIGs *************** *************** Cool Movie ZIG: Showed two Leslie Cheung movies yesterday in conjunction with Bebop; we'll be watching "Heathers" on Wednesday evening, before Angel, probably in Mather. Continue suggesting movies to watch, though Starr has several favorites to show before the end of the year. The list of movies on Dev's Wiki continues to grow. "Well, Heathers is Sarah Michelle Gellar's favorite movie, so..." -- Starr *************** Writers: Will meet again this Saturday from 4:30-6:00 as usual. Workshopping a short story by Novalis (possibly another by Heather). Wacky writing games. *************** Babylon 5: A repeat of last week's Season 4 wrap up, as President Clark is out of town and many need to catch up. That'll start at 8; even further catching up could start as early as 6 for those who are really far behind. (Note from the Infernal: I wish to remind all sci-fi characters to prevent the completion of their character arc *at all costs*.) *************** Milk & Cookies: During prefrosh weekend; also, a possible strange love child between M&C, Bizarreness and Writers SIGs during reading period. *************** Video Games: There was a Gamecube purchased, a large multiplayer game of MOO3, and much mashing of buttons over Break. On a tangentially related note, Jason and Chris are preparing a LARP, based on the Metal Gear Solid series, to be run in May; those interested should let them know. "It's not over yet, Snake!" -- Liquid Snake *************** $IG: This week the Masq prevents a Friday showing, so Saturday night. Hopefully last week's lack of attendance was due to Smith and not complete disinterest. Futurama is starting over from the beginning, we may watch The Daily Show weeknights at 11 instead. Adult Swim is still Sundays at midnight. *************** Magic: There was a game Friday night involving a prefrosh. There will be more Magic in the future; Charles is going to Your Move Games Thursday night. Kaitlin: "Elves don't get no respect." Warren: "And zombies get brains." *************** CIG: No new Buffy or Smallville (next new Buffy is 4/15 - it's called "Dirty Girls"); Angel at 9 on Wednesday, following the ZIG showing of "Heathers". *************** *************** Munchies. - Chris Doucette, Infernal Secretary doucett@fas _______________________________________________ hrsfa-announce mailing list hrsfa-announce@lists.hcs.harvard.edu http://lists.hcs.harvard.edu/mailman/listinfo/hrsfa-announce
