Minutes: 4/20/03 From: Chris Doucette Date: Sun Apr 20 2003 - 20:32:23 EDT --------------------------------------------------- Dr. Jacobson teaches at Harvard. Tony et al: "Uh, we were told there would be punch and pie..." Chris: "There's no punch and pie." Tony et al: "Oh." (leave) ************* ************* NORMAL BUSINESS ************* ************* ************* MYLD HUNT / SPRING PARTY ************* We had 'em yesterday. There was confusing of peoples and Passover goodies. "There were definitely people who thought Kaitlin and I were getting married." -- Dennis ************* PREFROSH WEEKEND ************* Once again, our plans to rope in the young and impressionable are as follows: Game-a-thon: Saturday 4/26, 3-7ish, Science Center 116 MST3k: Saturday 4/26, 7:30-10, Waka Milk & Cookies: Saturday 4/26, 10-1, Waka Tabling: Kaitlin needs help tabling at the activities fair Sunday afternoon from 3 to 4:30. We can only have two people total; ask her (kbheller@fas) for logistical details if you're willing to be loud and friendly and stuff for part or all of the fair. Tony: "I will be in the Democrats dunking booth at Springfest." Jason: "Hmm... personal morality... dunk Tony." ************* FRESHMAN WEEK ************* Dorms open 9/6. There'll be a game-a-thon and milk and cookies the Wednesday of Freshman Week (which we will poster for) and an intro meeting at Boylston the Thursday of the following week (advertised in the Calendar of Opening Days). ************* PROFIT ************* The day classes end (Friday May 2nd), Waka will be available for watching a marathon of the cancelled series Profit. Cassia can't be there but encourages everyone to come, cause it's an awesome show. "It was too edgy for FOX." -- Ender ************* T PARTY ************* Bizareness/Milk & Cookies/Writer's SIGs wish to make an attempt at a trip to the Wonderland T stop with Lewis Carroll readings and tea sometime during Reading Period. Freeeeaky. ************* METAL GEAR SOLID LARP ************* Wanna be a badass? Tell Jason (morrow@fas) and/or Chris (doucett@fas). The expected date is the night of Saturday May 17th, the first Saturday in exam period. The proper background info will be provided via write-ups of MGS 1 & 2, and an optional session of watching the best parts of each game. ************* MAYDAY ************* Harvard already has a Mayday celebration, but that's just not enough. Summer suggests that HRSFA get up early on May 1st to dress up as nymphs and throw flowers at people. Tell Summer (slbailey@fas) if you're interested. ************* BUDGET (pronounced boo-JAIS) ************* Tony wrote up our budget. Dennis gave him $50. The plan for con discounts is, with the officers' approval on a con-by-con basis, to provide $10/person; if we start going to lots of cons and this becomes infeasible, we'll reduce the amount. Also, the $1 movie ticket discount will be replaced by HRSFA paying for T fare on movie trips. This means saving more money for you (round-trip T far is $2) and less HRSFA-HRSFAn money swapping all around (someone will just buy tokens for everyone andget reimbursed). "As you can see, there's no 'Tony-Stealing Money' line..." -- Tony ************* SENIOR BRUNCH ************* We'll reserve a small dining room at one of the Houses for a Sunday brunch, probably during exam period. ************* MOVIES ************* May 3rd: X-Men II May ~15th: Matrix II "Jesus is back!" -- Kartik ************* ************* SIGs ************* ************* Babylon 5: Four more Season 5 eps this week. Says Dennis: One of them is Day of the Dead, written by some guy who once signed Kaitlin's pants, and Penn and Teller are also there. ************* Writers: Workshopped three pieces over the weekend. Elisabeth will try to have Fusion laid out before the end of the semester and get it printed over the summer. If anyone's interested in editing via email let her know (ehcohen@fas). ************* Cool Movie ZIG: We've shown Heathers and A Fish Called Wanda the last two Wednesdays; this Wednesday may be Young Frankenstein or Hard-Boiled. ************* Anime: Lots of HRSFAn went to Anime Boston. Alexa: "Tony let me walk around the dealer's room with his badge on the condition that I take pictures of pretty girls-" Tony: "For all of HRSFA." ************* MST3k: Prefrosh Weekend. Pain. One more time. ************* Video Game: Continues to rule HRSFA with an iron fist. ************* $IG: Dying but hasn't given up yet - more episodes on Friday. Come watch, dammit. ************* CIG: Dying and broken by the whip of its cruel mistress. No new Buffy this week, new Smallville and Angel. "Clark goes all wife-beater and throws cars at people..." -- Charles ************* Magic: Lots of Magic at the Spring Party. More brain-frying coming up real soon. ************* Gaming: Games after the meeting with alumna Alexa. There was silent-Tony Catan at the party. Diplomacy over reading period...? ************* Shadowrun: This Friday. It'll happen, somehow. ************* Ascension: Will also happen soon, because the Crusade game was not going to be for nothing. ************* Cartoons: Family Guy is coming to Cartoon Network. Details will follow. ************* ************* Munchies. - Chris Doucette, Infernal Secretary doucett@fas _______________________________________________ hrsfa-announce mailing list hrsfa-announce@lists.hcs.harvard.edu http://lists.hcs.harvard.edu/mailman/listinfo/hrsfa-announce
