Minutes: 10/19/03 From: Chris Doucette Date: Sun Oct 19 2003 - 17:35:02 PDT --------------------------------------------------- It was really effing freezing in Sever 110. Many people, independently of one another, made comments on this fact, like, "It's effing freezing in here." Kaitlin: "Yes. Charles and I, together, are Jesus and Christ." Charles: "So what does this have to do with Christmas?" ************ ************ "NORMAL" BUSINESS ************ ************ As normal as it ever gets, anyway. ************ FALL PARTY ************ Everyone: "Yay." Warren, Dave and Elisabeth, having won the Scavenger Hunt, will be in charge of the Vericon hunt. ************ VERICON ************ The next planning meeting will not be the morning after a HRSFA party. Nor will it be the morning after the Hour. More likely it will be around dinnertime - 6:30 in a reservable dining room, specifics to follow. We may be getting big-time writer Peter David, who is cool 'n' stuff, but we have to work out things like how much money and/or firstborn children we'll have to give him. ************ COMING DU HOUR ************ This will take place next Sunday morning (10/26) at 2 AM. (Kaitlin: Do the whole thing, bitch.) Alright fine. It will take place from 2 AM to 2 AM and last approximately one hour. Happy? There will also be a marathon showing of the Back To The Future trilogy beforehand. Cause, you know, time and all that. ************ WYLD HUNT ************ The Wyld Hunt is set for Halloween - that's 10/31 if you live under a rock. You get to paint yourself blue and run around Harvard chasing Cody, who will be wearing antlers. Meet in Bill's room for preparation (painting, etc.) at or around 7 PM. Details will be announced shortly. ************ MOVIES ************ We have some outings coming up: Matrix Revolutions: Friday November 7th (though it comes out Wednesday) Email Warren if you'd like a ticket. We're going on Friday night instead of Wednesday, because it's probably easier on people's schedules. Return of the King: December 16th We tried to get tickets to the marathon showing of the extended versions at Boston Common, but they sold out in 0.67 seconds. So instead, we'll have our own marathon of the extended versions on DVD before going to RotK. ************ MGS LARP ************ We've got a good core number of players, but we'd still like more. We're also looking for some NPCs who don't mind dying over and over and over again. Again, it's Saturday November 8th (the Saturday of Veteran's Day weekend) and will start around 6:30 PM with a pizza dinner. Come get your spy on. ************ ************ SIGs ************ ************ Cool Movie Zojo: Hudson Hawk surprised many with its goodness. Tomorrow night at 9 we watch a Cool Movie classic, The Wizard of Speed and Time. ************ MST3k SIG: We're doing Wing Commander. Because Jason says so. Wednesday night we will watch it through once; in the following weeks we start watching individual chunks over and over. Kaitlin: "You like spending money less than you like HRSFAn, or you like spending money less than HRSFAn like spending money?" Jason: "A little from Column A, a little from Column B..." ************ Video Games SIG: Continues to burn, pillage, and consume. ************ Anime SIG: Will actually start doing stuff. Because, as Jason says, "Anime society sucks BALLS." ************ Gaming SIG: Cody says: Canaday Fridays are on the comeback. Expect a -social email this week. Tony wants to start playing Netrunner, an asymmetric card game (that means each side has a different playing mechanic), in anticipation of a tournament at Vericon. ************ CIG: Alias tonight at 9. Smallville Wednesday at 8. Angel Wednesday at 9. Angel has graphic nudity this week, or at least the trailer did. "So, graphical nudity? Like, Spike's nudity against time from 1998 to 2003?" -- Warren ************ Milk & Cookies: Is never ever using the G-Spot again. There will be a mini-M&C on November 1st, announcement will follow. ************ Writer's SIG: Continues to meet 2-3:30 on Sundays. Elisabeth wants your s**t out of the library (I am saying what she refuses to.) She may contact you if your name is on stuff there, but at some point you lose ownership of your stuff and it becomes Salvation Army material. ************ Reader's SIG: Will be meeting from 1-2 every other Sunday (Sundays where there is a general HRSFA meeting.) Don't feel like you can't come if you haven't read the story in advance, as the first few minutes are set aside for that purpose. ************ Damn, I got crumbks itn thje kkeyboasrde.?; - Chyrits Doauycvetrrtea doucett@fash _______________________________________________ hrsfa-announce mailing list hrsfa-announce@lists.hcs.harvard.edu http://lists.hcs.harvard.edu/mailman/listinfo/hrsfa-announce
