Minutes: 11/16/03 From: Kaitlin Branson Heller Date: Sun Nov 30 2003 - 20:05:11 PST --------------------------------------------------- Rebecca very sweetly tried to sell tickets to the Noteables concert. "Answer honestly, and without fear." - Lis She failed. But in the year 2003, the Noteables were another name for surrender. Or something. Also, Dennis arrived and asked if this was Corporate Finance, whereupon he was informed that he was a Stupid Git. We discussed Tony's bed, cannibalistic lesbians, the significance of "A&H", the mighty Sanyo, and Greco-Roman mythology. Kaitlin: Well, we've been waiting for the Hotel Kant to turn female so we can kill you. Dennis: It grows back. Jason: I have a Casio. It has not been eaten. Hence, Chronos does not eat his children. Meeting! Aarrr. - B U S I N E S S - THANKSGIVING || || Tofurkey. LORD OF THE RINGS || || Warren will send out another email with pertinent || information about time and place and other such happy || creatures. Hopefully, more people will say they want || to go. In the meantime, he might buy tickets for || those who have already indicated their interest. The || showing in question will be at 12:00 am at the || beginning of Wednesday the 17th, in a *** good *** || theater. APOCRYPHA || HRSFALOGICAE || || Elisabeth and some devoted followers are trying to update || the A&H (which, for those of you who may not know, is a || history of HRSFA events, personalities, legal precedents, || and what-have-you). Part of this task includes gathering || stories of legendary HRSFA happenstances. However, current || undergraduates may be so unaware of HRSFAn history that || they don't even know what stories to ask after. Therefore, || if you can think of something to put in, PLEASE send it to || Elisabeth and Kaitlin! THE OXFORD FRENCH || MINI-DICTIONARY || || Charles: I am reading an Oxford French || Mini-Dictionary. || Elisabeth: For fun? || Rebecca: And profit. || Charles: Well I haven't made any money yet ... || Rebecca: I'll give you a quarter if you keep reading. || Charles: Okay. VERICON || || If you have some desire to run games at Vericon (which may be a || legitimate desire), including organizing your own RPGs or || LARPs, but also just managing games like Munchkin, please || contact Vincent. Also, start telling people to attend the con!! || If you have friends at nearby colleges, encouraging them to || come would be great. Rebecca, the publicity manager, can || suggest useful things to say if you can't think of any. - S I G S - Charles got to call on everybody. That made him happy. +++ r/wsig ++ + + + + + Did not meet last week, because of Thanksgiving. Will meet this coming week, time and place TBA because of Noteables. +++ mst3k sig +++ + + + + + + Needs converts! Come come come. "Met this week, because I hate you all, and will meet next week, because I hate you all a lot." - Jason Seriously, folks, Wing Commander is a HORRIBLE MOVIE and HRSFA needs to TAKE IT DOWN, but we can't do it without your help. Every smarmy comment counts. Plus, watching Jason riff the movie is really entertaining. So, if you want to (1) save Vericon, (2) save Jason, (3) exploit Jason, or (4) all of the above, support the sig! +++ video games sig ++ + + + + + Eva 2 will explode upon the populace again soon ... when Jason makes it through this week. +++ anime sig +++ + + + + + + + + + Yeah ... um ... Jason's alive. +++ milk and cookies sig ++++ + + + + + + + + Met on the weekend prior to Thanksgiving. Will meet again On Saturday, December 16. If someone could look into reserving Winthrop JCR or Leverett JCR for 8-1, it would be much appreciated. Madrigals also met before milk and cookies, but due to lack of singers (or at least of appropriate singers), Warren was forced to sing alto, and Kaitlin had to sing bass. If you would like to rectify this horrifying situation, come next time! +++ cig ++ + + + + + + On hiatus through winter break, due to the fact that the aired episodes won't be new for a while. However, old school Buffy and Smallville may be up for some watchin' during reading period, along with B5 of some description. Further bulletins as events warrant. +++ stargate / farscape sig +++ + + + + + + Chris will be running a mini-marathon of Stargate on Friday, December 16th (see prior email). There will, apparently, be "hijinx". If you like "hijinx", or you know someone who does, our physicians are ready to *ahem* ... you should go see this fabumolous marathon. +++ gaming sig: master of the darkness ++ + + +++ ++ + ++ ++ +++ + + ++++ POKER got played, along with some other games, over break, thus ensuring a total lack of getting work done in the Kant. ++++ MAGIC was drafted, including by some irregulars. probably there will be another draft, or at least another game, next Thursday (Dec. 11th). A Game of Thrones CCG even happened, albeit in a sleep-filled haze. ++++ RPGs and LARPs: Warren, because he hates himself, is writing a soon(?)-to-be-released sequel to the MGS LARP. If you want to be in it, let him know; no known player limit yet. Jason, because he hates everyone, is planning a Paranoia campaign. Dark Ages continues, as does the space western. Kaitlin is planning some kind of White Wolf one-shot for the spring. Suggestions (and requests to play) welcome; no player limit yet. ++++ DIPLOMACY is going slowly, but well, via email. Dev apparently has a deep strategy of sending out little haikus, and then valiantly moving his pieces into retreat. "Some people are playing it, for some definitions of the word 'play'." - Tony Noteables SIG tried to exist again, insisting that it has a concert this Sunday at 6, but it was rejected once more. Everyone refused to acknowledge that the meeting was over until we had the Chinatown Bus Gang Report. After some osmosis, the meeting finally gave up, and we had munchies. Recorded November 30, 2003.
