RETURN: THE KINGING

We are going to the "12:01 AM" showing on Wednesday the 17th at 
Alewife. We'll leave at 10 PM on Tuesday to be assured of good seats. 
Bring a book or a Game Boy or something, cause we'll be a-waitin'. 
We'll also have to walk back from Alewife in the bitter cold, so find 
your snow pants.

It's still up in the air whether Cool Movie Zojo will show the extended 
Fellowship: The Ringing or Towers: The Twoing on Tuesday: The 
Afternooning. If you want it to happen, make your voice heard soon.

We not only need volunteers, we need a volunteer to volunteer 
volunteers. If you want to earn the endless love of everyone involved 
with Vericon, tell Charles (cwood@fas) that you want to be Volunteer 
Coordinator, which involves

a) guilting people into being volunteers,
b) making an organized list of who does what when,
c) make sure that all the whos do the right whats when they're supposed 
to.

People to run board games are also desired. If you're planning on 
running an RPG, get yourself registered on the vericon site 
(www.vericon.org).

All Hail Sanyo! If you want to participate send me (doucett@fas) an 
email in the next 24 hours. You should buy some form of SF media for 
your person - book, VHS, DVD, soundtrack CD, whatevs. Try and keep it 
within $10-$20.

Soon HRSFA will shed its officer board, as would a snake its skin, and 
elect a new one, as would *not* a snake its skin.

Feb. 8th: Officer Nominations and vote on whether to have Vericon '05.
Feb. 22nd: Officer Elections
Feb. 29th: Non-Constitutional Nominations (God help us all)
Mar. 7th: Non-Con Elections
Mar. 12th: Spring Masquerade

More on these as the dates approach, obviously.

Cool Movie Zojo: We watched Die Hard and were filled with good cheer by 
the antics of those evil, evil Germans. January will probably not have 
weekly movies but hopefully at least some.

Gaming: Charles is a liar and they want to play more poker. The email 
Diplomacy game rages on. There will be Diplmoacy at Vericon with 
visitors from the Massachusetts Diplomacy Society, and a tournament at 
nearby Babson College on the 17th. Email Tony (avila@fas) if you're 
interested.

Star Trek: A mini-marathon after the break is in order. Email Dave K. 
(kowarsky@fas) with suggestions for TNG episodes and times you would 
want it to be.

$IG: The Stargate SG-1 marathon was a success. New episodes start 
Friday Jan. 9th; in the first week of reading period I'll see what I 
can do about getting people caught up on Season 7 events.

Babylon 5: Crusade is being shown every once in a while. It's been a 
while since I've heard anyone yell "Purple! Green!" which, if you don't 
mind my saying so, is a good thing, I think.

CIG: Angel and Smallville are still on hiatus. Plans for showings of a 
"Buffy summary" are in the works.

Writers: Madrigals happened before Milk & Cookies. Plans are in the 
works for the next Fusion, due for distribution after Thanksgiving 
2004. The submission deadline will be the end of Spring Break. Write, 
damn you, write.

The Question of Readers SIG: Do people want it to happen? More to the 
point, will anyone come to it? Inquiring minds (ecohen@fas) want to 
know.

Milk & Cookies: Will not be happening so often in the spring semester.
