Meeting minutes 4/24/05 From: Elena Udovina Date: Sun Apr 24 2005 - 17:44:16 PDT Agenda For some reason, the word is surrounded by lots of scribbling. Maybe it's soap bubbles. It was somehow connected with "awesome," so that seems likely. 1. Prefrosh events 2. Hitchhikers 3. Star Wars (boo?) 3a. Kung Fu Hustle 4. T-shirts 5. Summer list 6. Just kidding 7. Lowry's lunch 8. SIGs 9. Munchtastic ! ! ! ! <~~ porcupine ---PREFROSH--- For some scheduling reason which Noam could not recall, they're all on Saturday. Noteables have a concert on Saturday, so we need volunteers for tabling until then. Michael and Lamont volunteer themselves. Concurrently with tabling we have gaming, manned by, as far as I can tell, God-knows-who. Noam, please tell me somewhere between you and Elisabeth there's God? After gaming, we have MST3K, which will be rehearsed by then. MST3K needs to be recorded. Because I'm an idiot and forgot about the existence of a father (I acquire one of those things on specifically that Saturday), I can't do the recording of MST3K. Neither can Yves. Somebody else, volunteer themselves now. Yves will give you equipment and training. Following MST3K, there will be Milk and Cookies at 10. There are plans for writing things on swans and handing those out at tabling. The swans are to be folded out of paper. The folding of swans is likely to occur on Tuesday. ---HITCHHIKERS--- Drawing courtesy of Lamont, simulated via ascii (this works in Arial, and probably in no other font - my apologies): _____ /////|\\\\\ |||||||||||||||| <----- Big Ass Rock ------------ | \|/ O --|-- <----- Me / \ _____ / _____\ |( @@ )| <----- SPLAT! ------------ There's Mauro's concert on Friday. There are RPGs on Sunday. As of the meeting, the consensus was for Sunday, leaving after Noteables ~7pm. Lamont will be reserving tickets. Send Lamont (lajames@fas) an email by Tuesday at 3. ---STAR WARS--- Kaitlin: "Chris would like to cry first" Lamont will go see Episode 3 (5/19) because the first two sucked and they have a lot of Jedi to kill by the 4th one. Send Lamont an email by the end of the week. ---KUNG FU HUSTLE--- The exfernal saw it, and it was good. They have guys dancing with small axes. HRSFA should go see it some time between Hitchhikers and Star Wars. Again, email Lamont. ---T-SHIRTS--- If you want to see the picture, try to convince Kaitlin, who drew it, to give you one. It will have "Because friends don't let friends choose wisely" on the back. Chris will do the actual organizing of the t-shirting. ---SUMMER LIST--- See Yves' email on the subject. There exists hrsfa-summer, and if you'll be in Boston over the summer, you should sign up for it. ---LOWRY'S LUNCH--- Louis Lowry, author of The Giver among other things, will be having lunch with us on Monday 5/2 at 1:30, though we don't yet know where. Send Michael an email SOON if you plan on coming. ---SIGS--- 1. Cartoons: tonight, at 10. 2. MST3K: Kowarsky: "We will rehearse. No, really, we'll rehearse. Ok, I will rehearse, and fuck you all." When and where TBA. Yves still needs somebody to record it. If you didn't volunteer yourself the first time I said this, do it now. MST3K watched Timeline, which is the current favorite for riffing for next year. They'll attempt to watch Manos: The Hands of Fate for the 3rd time on Thursday. You should come and see it. 3. Wold of Warcraft Ate My Life SIG would like to report that... yeah. 4. Gaming will happen this Friday. Cody will come late because he promised to come to Mauro's concert, but he'll be there after the concert, and he'll provide games. 5. Baking SIG may or may not make Charoseth (if I'm not mistaken, that's one way of anglicizing that). Talk to Cody if you're interested. 6. Build Shit and Blow Shit Up SIG went over to SPS because of something involving the movement of little green pieces of paper. Hopefully, some building / blowing up action will happen before the end of the year. Talk to Ed about it. 7. Frisbee SIG will defeat SPS on Sunday, 5/1, at 2pm at Cambridge Common. People should come defeat SPS. 8. Fusion SIG will meet when it has time. 9. Wagon Fulla Pancakes SIG has acquired a wagon. Baking SIG offered to provide pancakes. 10. Writing SIG wants you to give it things to workshop. 11. Anachronistic Gaming had no knowledgeable representative, but we think it will probably meet on Tuesday. 12. Cool Movie SIG will meet at 9:15 on Tuesday (I think?), and will watch Schindler's List, err, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. 13. LARP wants you all to come to the next meeting of the LARP (on the 14th) and at least observe. Kaitlin will try to have food for you all. 14. There will be a Mage game run by Kaitlin over the summer. See the -summer list. 15. There will most likely be a Milk and Cookies in May that is not on the prefrosh weekend. 16. Matt found a world-building RPG online called Lexicon. He'll send an email about this. 17. Leftovers SIG: Cool Movies watched Death to Smoochie. If you have game cube controllers that you'd be willing to lend to people so that there may be video gaming not in Quincy 311, you should throw them at people. (The people seem to be Matt Granoff and somebody else.) As this may or may not have been the last meeting of the year, we may or may not have to deal with the budget in some non-meeting-y manner. More details to come later. Good job on reading up to this point. Go get a cookie from the big cookie jar. <~~~Elena.~~~> _______________________________________________ hrsfa-announce mailing list hrsfa-announce@lists.hcs.harvard.edu http://lists.hcs.harvard.edu/mailman/listinfo/hrsfa-announce
