Minutes, 10 October 1993 Recorded by Chris Exner --------------------------------------------------- First off, I'd just like to apologise to those people who missed the meeting because of lack of announcement. Apparently the computers crashed and the meeting announcement didn't reach all the names on the mailing list... That being said, I present to you the minutes of the aforementioned meeting. This and subsequent minutes will be filed in the HRSFA account (~HRSFA). Ask Matt Duhan if this interests you. Minutes 10/10/93 Location: Emerson 108 Meeting is called to order. There is a noticeable absence of frosh, at least partially due to the crash of the HUSC computers and, by proxy, the HRSFA mailing list. Sydney gives his Fusion harangue, again extolling those river people to deliver the magazine. SIG Reports then occur, as they are not voted on and it is hoped that more people will show up: - Mystery Science Theater 3000 (henceforth MST3K): Two movies were watched, including "Fugitive Alien" and something involving a fire-breathing dump truck. - BBC met in Cabot House, and traded in an old Doctor for a new one. - Star Trek has been meeting in frenzied watching of the new season of shows. - Ars Magica met. Three people suffered burns as the Flame of Incompetence was passed to a new generation of characters. - Harn World met. - BearMeatWorld met, and produced the quote of the meeting (see below). - Milk & Cookies SIG will start up soon, if we read the entrails correctly. - Some HRSFAns went to the 3rd 1st annual IgNobel Prize Awards. - The Collecting Money from People Who Owe HRSFA SIG was disbanded. Library business was discussed, and it was decided to sell copies of books from the book swap which are in excess of a predefined, sane amount. Movie -- HRSFA is financing an IGP showing of the Princess Bride in exchange for 75% of the net. The vote was unanimous, with the exception of Charles Keckler. The showing is on the weekend of Nov. 11; HRSFA is providing all the $$, while IGP provides the movie slot and postering fanaticism. A Budget was discussed and passed. It includes funding for the Gaming SIG, Library, Cultural Events, Comics, and Office Improvements. The MST3K SIG announced a public relations coup: on the weekend of Oct 22, there will be shown on the big screen in Boylston Auditorium the two transition episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000, wherein Joel is replaced as the host. Comedy Central is paying for the room, projectionist, film, posters, banners, free MST3K memorabilia, and advertisements in the Crimson. People are expected from distant places. Hopefully, the army will be called in to contain this before it spreads... Proposed SIGs - Filk (bizarre Sci-Fi music) and T.V. Show. Random discussion. The Munchies SIG convenes with gusto.
