Minutes, 18 February 1996 Recorded by Susan Marie Groppi, mailed to hrsfa-announce 19 February --------------------------------------------------- Just to get my first-ever HRSFA minutes off to a good start, I'm going to present them in non-chronological order and start with the election results. HRSFA's New Officers: Co-chairs: Kyle Niedzwiecki Alexei Tymoczko "Do we really want two co-chairs no one can spell the last name of?" External Sec.: Aaron Mandel Internal Sec.: Susan Groppi Treasurer: Chris Hall For a variety of reasons, the election of the Editor-in-Chief (as well as all non-constitutional positions) will be held at the next meeting. Congratulations to all new HRSFA officers, eternal gratitude and thanks to the outgoing officers. Now back to our regularly scheduled Minutes. Saturday, 18 February 1996, Sever 110 ------------------------------------- Does anyone have access to a good microphone for the Masq? Movie showing-- Twelve Monkeys 19 and 20 April 8pm and 10pm Science Center C Cost: $2 for HRSFAns, $3 for everyone else. H-R Republican Alliance has offered to sell us their movie slot for spring semester. We're not sure how much this would cost us or if it's even allowed, or even when the slot is. If we go through with it, the movie shown would be Goldeneye. We are currently awaiting more information from the HRRA and we're not sure if we want to go through the bother of dealing with two movie slots, but the group sentiment appeared to be "More Money is a Good Thing". T-Shirt: very few people showed up to the meeting, Rose is probably designing the T-Shirt but designs and suggestions are still welcome. Contact Alden if interested. The Masquerade: Saturday 24 February, 9pm, Lowell JCR MASQ POSTERING: very very important. Alden has the posters, the Masq is this coming Saturday, we need to poster. Posters are taken down Monday and Thursday early-mornings, so poster Monday and Thursday late-mornings for maximum poster visibility. Postering Suggestions: put posters in upper corners of kiosks because they're less likely to be postered over. If you have to poster over someone, be sure to tape your poster well to theirs (so that if they later rip yours down, theirs comes with it). Clear packing tape tends to be better than masking tape for postering. HRSFA money allocation policy review: the preferred method is to ask at the annual budget meeting. The lately-more-common method is to ask at a meeting and have your request voted on. Under No Circumstances is money to be given out without one of these forms of group approval. Possibility of large-scale Milk and Cookies Extravaganza discussed. Due to thesis due dates, it would best be after theses are due, probably around the beginning of reading period. Writer's SIG will be meeting Monday nights. They realize that this is opposite Dean's new Queen and Country campaign--email Cristella if you have any serious objections to this time slot. This week in the Cool Movie PSIG: Repo Man. Reputed to have a scene where Zil Lyon's third cousin twice removed appears on screen while Emilio Estevez has his pants down. Or something like that. Elections commenced at this point. After (and probably during) elections we confused large numbers of high school debaters and then adjourned to the Greenhouse to eat the munchies.
