Minutes, 31 March 1996 Recorded by Susan Marie Groppi Meeting genteely called to order by Matt Ender. The HRSFA Spring Party will be held the weekend following next weekend, the weekend of the next meeting. Details will be announced when we find them. Going of the Hour is next Saturday/Sunday, details also to follow. It is observed that the Going of the Hour falls on Easter, leading Tyg to ask "Does that mean the Hour will come back three days later?" Mr. 1000 Book Man. Still wants to give us the books, but needs for us to be a non-profit organization, which, as we went over at the last meeting, we're not. Conspiracy is hatched to funnel the books through some organization that -is- non-profit. Several Harvard organizations are mentioned, as well as MITSFAS and Arisia. Organizing is left in the capable hands of Alexei "Nonprofit Organization" Tymoczko. Kyle says that Your Move Games will give a discount to HRSFA members if we tell you that Your Move Games is a gaming store in Davis Square that's very cool and you should all shop there. Your Move Games is a gaming store in Davis Square that's very cool and we recommend that you all shop there. Planning for the Myld Hunt. Amidst much giggling, it is declared that planning is happening. The Myld Hunt is the proper and aristocratic cousin of the Wyld Hunt, and this year Claudia is out Huntrunner. Possible date for the Hunt is discussed. The new moon, which we traditionally plan around, is on 17 April. Holding the Hunt the weekend prior to that means that we lose Ny and all the wonderful food she'll give us. Holding it the weekend of the 27th means that we lose Claudia, and if we go too far into May we lose Ny again, unless we decide to Hunt her parents. Kevin Martin volunteered to organize a Myld Hunt every weekend from now until reading period. Given the choice between the weekend of 20 April and the weekend of 4 May, the group votes for 4 May. Given the choice between that Saturday (4 May) or that Sunday (5 May), the group decides on Sunday. Sixty dollars is budgeted for Ny to make yummy food. To Summarize: The Hunt will be held the afternoon of Sunday, 5 May. MOVIE: HRSFA will be showing the movie 12 Monkeys on 19 and 20 April. We need to start publicizing Right Now. Both Kyle Niedzwiecki and Rory Gormley offered to lead postering expeditions, and I offered to lead an expedition to surreptitiously chalk large orange "12"s all over campus. Parties interested in joining any of these publicity outings should contact the relevant parties. Tyg says that David Brin will be in town 9 and 10 June, and apparently we can have coffee with him on the evening of 10 June. Contact Tyg for details. Babylon 5 goes out of reruns next Sunday. Kindred: The Embraced premieres on Fox on Tuesday, with the regular slot on Wednesdays at 9. MST3K movie will open 19 April in one theater in Boston, but we're not sure which one. SIG REPORTS. Cool Movie PSIG will be showing "Sneakers" this week, and I respectfully request that they include the quote "A discovery of Gaussian proportions!" in their advance publicity. MST3K didn't meet over break, saw a horrible Season Seven episode before break, will watch that movie with the ants this week. Inexplicably, Alexei has a lot of old and wondrous AD&D stuff, which you're all welcome to go take a look at. BBC SIG didn't meet, we think, but we're not sure, and no one who would know was at the meeting. Gaming SIG: Matt Ender rocked the world in the Shakespeare LARP. There's a surfer LARP at Brandeis on 6 April, talk to Matt Ender if you're interested. He's also going to be in a chess LARP at Brandeis, prompting Tyg to make a bad joke about "One Night in Brandeis", prompting in turn Matt Ender to begin singing. "We found a war machine." In the absence of any explanation, I'm going to assume this refers to Queen and Country. If this is in fact about Queen and Country, then that's also the game where everyone shared a dream and believes in magic, which doesn't exist, so it was a big revelation. Kyle claims that there is a verb in Greek which means "to be crushed by a large war machine", and the group votes that Kyle has to conjugate said verb in Greek for everyone at the next meeting. Ravenloft: "We didn't meet, but we're still doomed." Lords of Chaos: Everyone's about to die. Apathy SIG ravaged the countryside. A reminder was issued to do the list-subscribe thing, meaning subscribe to the new lists and unsubscribe from the old hrsfa-list. Right Now. As in Immediately. The meeting was adjourned and everyone ate vanilla wafers.
