Minutes, 1998-09-27 Recorded by Lori Ricard Sent to hrsfa-announce, 28 Sep 1998 09:42 ___________________________________________________________________ IgNobels: They are being held October 8. Poster poster poster! The delegation suddenly had 2 more spots for the first people to get Claudia $4. Matt Withers took one spot then and there, but as of about 8:00 last night there was still one spot left on the delegation. For those who would like to be part of a delegation, but didn't get into the Hrsfa one, Drew Glazier (glazier@wjh.harvard.edu) is organizing another Hrsfa delegation. Also, the guy with the grizzly bear proof armor is coming and Marc Abrams (the guy in charge of the Igs) is hoping to have a showing of the documentary about this guy for Hrsfa and he also hopes that one of us will show this guy around campus. Wyld Hunt: We decided that the Wyld Hunt will be held on October 24 due to most other weekends in October being rather unsuitable (Head of the Charles, Halloween, etc.) and also to requests from out of town alums. Chris Hall and I will organize this and we do indeed have a freshman volunteer for the stag. Now, if we can only figure out some way to keep antlers on her head . . . Coming of the Hour: The Coming of the Hour will be heald on October 24 as well since we already have y'all well gathered from the Hunt. There was some refutation that Chronos was not the god of time, but that was quickly shouted down. If anyone would like to be the clock bearer (a prestigious post, indeed), contact Tom Lotze (lotze@fas). Spring Party: Postponed indefinitely. Fall Party: Probably will happen in November. Anyone wanna volunteer a common room? Fusion: We have gotten submissions and Kelly will post this week. Fantasy Island: Um, is showing again. No Tatoo though. 7 PM Sig: Is officially dissolved by Chris Hall now that it has taken over Hrsfa. Buffy the Vampire Sig: Well, sort of a sig since it has collected 4 members. There is now a Buffy comic book. Writer's Sig: Is meeting at 8 pm *tonight* (as in Monday) in the Memorial Hall Tower room 303. If you would like to bring something for the group to read, let Matt Withers (withers@fas) know. Bizarreness Sig: needs ants. If you have any, contact Tom Lotze (lotze@fas). Library: Will shortly have a sorting party. I'll post something on this. Cool Movie Psig: Has been involved in a weird power struggle. No one particularly wants to run it. However, Matt Duhan has stepped into the breach and will run it with the volunteer of a common room by me. Bab 5: Something will happen when the new episodes start in a few weeks. On a related note, check out Babylon Park: www.infinicorp.com/babylonpark Gaming Sig: There was some argument over whether Gaming Sig is still called Siswaiaman. The most salient point is that it must be because Igor has retained the title Lord of the Morning. Anyway, if you would like to run a game, let Igor know so that he can put it in the Gaming newsletter. Freshman, here is your chance to run a 4 year campaign! Lords of Chaos will never die. Matt Duhan is running Teenagers of Outer Space Matt Ender is running the Myst-like game that he posted to the list. War Gaming has been playing Black Death. There will be a Mini-GAT shortly. Random stuff: If you have not yet subscribed to the lists, please do so. Forwarding will end shortly. Contact Matt (withers@fas). We now have cardboard cutouts of Picard and Riker in the library. If you can't find them it's because they are currently between the massive blue bookshelves to keep them nice and safe. Darth Vader will eventually find himself back at the Library from his current residence in my closet. If we get a few more cutouts, we could have cardboard cutout sig. The next Wheel of Time book is due out October 20. If you've played the Star Trek game out, tell Igor (teper@fas) about it. Tom Lotze has rules for Capture the Flag now posted on his webpage: http://www.fas.harvard.edu/~lotze/capflag.txt Lori [This is the HRSFA announcement list.
