From ricard@fas.harvard.edu Thu Dec 3 14:41:52 1998 Date: Mon, 26 Oct 1998 07:50:06 -0500 (EST) From: Lori Ricard To: Hrsfa-Announce Subject: [HRSFA-Ann.] Minutes 10/25/98 Remarkably short meeting (7:15-7:45) Wyld Hunt: Came off excellently! We had a very athletic stag (yay Erin!) whom we barbecued after we caught her! Coming of the Hour: Also went well. There was both a large Harvard and MIT contingent. There was also a squad car which evidenced no interest, but caused people to remark that if they were going to burn something, they would do it very discreetly. MIT apparently dressed John Harvard in a little black outfit which shall be moved to the library. Book Donation: The Sgt of police for the Quad is moving, therefore he will donate to us 500 books (just when we had the other ones catalogued, grumble grumble). Anyway, this is a wonderful thing and we hope that there won't be more then 3 or 4 copies of Lord Foul's Bane. Fall Party: We need a room! We hope to have it the Friday after Halloween. There is a chance to have it at Igor's if people don't mind coming to the Quad. Mini GAT: Will be one of the weekends between the party and Thanksgiving. Says Igor, "If you're going to run something, please run something." Fusion: Kelly just turned in the UC grant application. She is making posters for submissions to Fusion. She will post to the list when these are ready. Bizarre holidays: If anyone wants more bizarre holidays like the Hour or the Hunt, see Matt Ender. He has some resource materials to write some. Achieve eternal notoriety like Carl Anderson ("who?")! Hrsfa has more money than we thought we had. We are reregistered. Matt talked to Susan Cooke, absolutely unproductively. Our advisors are Melissa Franklin and Ameek Ponda. Bab5: People will be getting together Wed at 10! Room to be announced. Star Trek: DS9 has restarted. Igor is considering gathering people Sats at 6 in Pfoho to watch it. XFiles: Begins in November. Writer's Sig: Meets Monday at 8 in the Greenhouse. Cool Movie Psig: Will happen. Eventually. Maybe. BBC: Claudia wishes to watch "The Lathe of Heaven" by Ursula Leguin. It's not really BBC, but it's obscure enough. Matt Withers plans to have a Black Adder marathon in December. Star Trek tapes: No decision until we find out more. Looks favorable, though. Mailing list rules: We do not want to touch them. <> Gaming: "It's a Siswai'aman time of the month" Chris is the only undergrad that is running a game. He is running Shadowrun. It already has lots of players, but he accepts more, at least temporarily. Matt Ender is running Dusty Old Books. In a nutshell: Insane people searching for God. He does accept new players. Matt Duhan is running Teenagers from Outer Space. It starts 2 weeks from today (Sunday) after the meeting. There are openings for more players. Lords of Chaos is hosed indefinitely, just like the Spring Party. Ravenloft is dooooooooooomed. Igor is considering running Call of Cthulu at MiniGat and maybe permanently. MST3K: There is a website with Eye of Argon with commentary. Talk to Igor if you want to find it. After the meeting was over, we played Falling, a cheapass game, for over an hour. Lori ************************************************************************************************ "I don't know if you have wash-days," she said to the two Goblins who were now sitting smugly on the soft pink blanket. "But if you do, remember that you never wash blankets in boiling water." ************************************************************************************************ [This is the HRSFA announcement list.
