Minutes, 99-04-25 Recorded by Bryn Neuenschwander Sent to hrsfa-announce, 27 Apr 09:36 ___________________________________________________________________ My apologies for the delay in these minutes. I continue to forge ahead, through the Chernobyl virus and my own computer difficulties, albeit at a somewhat slower pace. The meeting actually started kinda on time. This was a bit scary. YOUNG Postering plans were made. Come to his talk. It'll be cool. Those present voted to pay out of HRSFA's funds for the Young posters, prefrosh flyers, party food, and Dr. Young's dinner with the officers (only his dinner, not the officers'). MYLD HUNT May 9th. E-mail Huntmaster Tse Wei Lim (twlim@fas) or Fox Kevin Gold (kgold@fas) for details. It'll be in the afternoon. SENIOR BRUNCH May 9th, probably, before the Hunt. Is pending approval from the seniors, who know their schedules better than we do. Possible conflict with camping out for Star Wars tickets, but we'll find a way to deal. SPRINGFEST The chess match has been nixed for various reasons -- we were short sufficient volunteers, and we realized that for the effort the match would involve, the benefit for HRSFA would be more or less nil. In its place, we are setting up a venue for dueling, with swords either of the inflatable variety, or PVC pipe covered in padding. In the afternoon, we may stage a sort of tournament. Both HRSFAns and bystanders are welcome to participate. Landry and Kyle may serve as warhorses for a joust. The cutouts of Darth Vader and Co. may make an appearance, as may Blue Stuff. The chickwich BBQ has been postponed until Freshman Week. SUMMER HSRFA Both co-chairs will be in Cambridge, and any fellow HRSFAns are welcome to join them for fun and games. They will be trying to set up something with HASCS for communications purposes. Plans for activities currently include: terrorizing high schoolers and trying to lure them into HRSFA with summer memberships which may or may not buy them anything. GAT The weekend of May 15th-16th, i.e. right before exams begin. Further details will be forthcoming from Igor Teper, Lord of the Morning. SIGS GAMING There was a mini-GAT Friday for the prefrosh, even though as it turned out they weren't really on campus yet. It was still fun, however. Diplomacy was NOT played. At the upcoming MEGA-GAT, there will be games of all kinds, including a potential co-chair LARP and another Teper Historical LARP! [Dusty Old Books] They've met twice, and discovered that the Maya were evacuated to another world. An armed incursion was defeated by Skippy the Wonder Planet. The game will end in two weeks. [Lords of Chaos] Illness struck down the players two weeks previously, and again this past Saturday, possibly because of Milk & Cookies in the latter case. However, all will be well! Things have been "resolved," which sounds kind of bad for the players, who are all DOOMED. [Teenagers from Outer Space] Didn't meet this week, but in previous meet there was a huge party involving a love potion. Random note from Jason Morrow: we now have access to Alpha Centauri. [Vampire: The Masquerade] Players got the ankh out of the evil Setite temple without being killed, much to their surprise, and are now trapped in Jerusalem, which the Setites have more or less blockaded. This is bad. [Ars Magica] The characters went to the swamp and spent six years in a castle of meat. While there, they bettered their minds and bodies. This was all rather strange. [Shadowrun] It's coming to an end!!! Amazing!!! WRITERS' Will meet, submissions to Matt (withers@fas), etc. BUFFY May be defunct. Members seem to have been drowning in other responsibilities lately. X-FILES "Uh...yeah." -Drew Glazier. Not much else was said. STAR TREK DS9 is winding down, in a huge arc 2 weeks old with 5 or 6 left to go. It is reportedly actually a rather good arc. BIZARRENESS SIG leader Tom Lotze stood up, pointed at the co-chairs, and sat down again. MILK AND COOKIES Met. There was milk. There were cookies. There were even prefrosh. And it turned a profit of twenty cents!!! The Eye of Argon reading was won by Neil, with prefrosh Mindy coming in second place. SPACE GHOST Jason Morrow put out a call for members for a new Space Ghost SIG. Email bneuensc@fas to express interest. A tape is needed of the most recent Xena episode. Does anyone have one? There was discussion of renaming HRSFA in light of Radcliffe's demise. This was largely stomped on, since HSFA sounds like a sneeze, and such a renaming would involved rewriting the constitution, which does not appear to be a very popular idea. FUSION It has been published!!! Get bundles from Kelly (stage@fas) to door-drop houses or dorms. Dean Epps has a copy of FUSION, and he signed our interest list at the activities fair! He will get e-mails from us! We debated putting him on -discuss. And then there were munchies.
